In 2022, the Lake Toxaway Community Associated hired Benchmark Planning to develop a strategic plan for the unincorporated community in western Transylvania County, North Carolina. Lake Toxaway is the largest privately held lake in the State, covering 640 acres with 14 miles of shoreline. Lake Toxaway is a premiere year-round and second home destionation featuring the lake, a country club, ample recreation, and access to great hiking, fishing, and dozens of waterfalls. The community is surrounded by over 5,000 acres of wooded forests and mountains but within an easy drive of Asheville, Atlanta, and Greenville.
The Lake Toxaway Community Association (LTCA) is a nonprofit North Carolina corporation organized specifically for the residents of Lake Toxaway Estates. The community includes over 1,200 residential lots and the LTCA is responsible for maintaining the lake, 36 miles of roadways within the Estates, and several recreational amenities open to community residents. The strategic plan which was developed by Benchmark Planning established a vision and guiding principles for LTCA, as well as projects to be implemented in the coming years.
